What can you do?

We are setting up a calendar for people to fast for Brandon during the next month or so. It would be greatly appreciated if you would look at our calendar on this website and select a day to fast and pray. We know that as we all combine our faith and join in fasting and prayer for the Lord’s blessings, Brandon will be able to beat this cancer. “And as it is written-Whatsoever ye shall ask in faith, being united in prayer according to my command, ye shall receive.” D&C 29: 6

He loves to see friends and family, so you are welcome to come for a short visit to say hello. However, due to increased risk of infection because of his compromised immune system, please do not bring children and make sure you are in good health as well! Additionally, Brandon is unable to eat food from outside of the hospital, and his room cannot have flowers or balloons. The love and support that has been poured out on Brandon, Katie, and their families is much appreciated. We appreciate your continued prayers as we tackle this disease!

There will be a donation account set up at Zions Bank to help with the costs of Brandon’s treatment. Your donations are greatly appreciated!

We all have felt the hand of the Lord throughout this whole process and have a lot to be grateful for. An optimistic attitude goes a long way, and both Brandon and Katie continue to exemplify attitudes of love, hope, and courage. If anyone can get through this, it’s our Doan! He has strength and grit beyond what any of us even realized before. As President Thomas S. Monson said “The future is as bright as your faith."

Brandon, if anyone can beat this, you can. I still remember those days when I looked out the window and saw this skinny little red head running wind sprints, up and down 2200 East. I didn't recognize who it was until you came to a stop, you were running so fast.

We love you bro and know you are in our prayers.

Plewe, I'm so sorry. I'm overcome thinking of how much you and your family are going through right now. I've been racking my brain for what I can do to be of any help and service to you in this time. Of course we will be praying and fasting for you. I have seen miracles happen through fasting many times in my life, and I know they will happen again if it is the Lord's will.

My wife has had many health problems since we got married (fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, digestive issues, etc). Nothing nearly as serious as what you're going through, but nonetheless they have been a great challenge for us. I felt to share some things we've learned and practiced that have helped Jenny dramatically.
I was desparately praying and seeking things I could do to help her. We came across a book called NEVER BE SICK AGAIN.
As you know, in order to have good spiritual health, we need to constant Spiritual noursihment while at the same time avoiding anything that can harm our spirituality. If we either neglect either side, our spirital health suffers.
NEVER BE SICK AGAIN taught me that principle more fully as it relates to our physical health. I learned that many of the common foods Jenny and I were eating regularly were not giving our bodies the quality nutrition that our cells needed to maintian optimal health. In addition we were regularly being regularly exposed to chemical toxins (present in the products we were chosing to buy and surround ourselves with) that were weakening our cells and leading to poor health. It has very specific details for both food choices and toxin avoidance that I never would have thought of.
Jenny seems to have a more sensitive body than me, however if we had continued the same, I most likely would have felt the effects too.
We made many lifestyle and consumer changes to maximize nutrition and minimize toxins and Jenny's health has improved significantly. I am so grateful for that.
If you're interested I would highly recommend picking up a copy. Or I could drop one by for you sometime if you say you'd like it. If nothing else, I feel it would give your body the best possible chance to respond positively to the treatments.
Another book that has been very helpful to us is LIVE RIGHT 4 YOUR TYPE - (specific instructions for your blood type that can lead to optimal health) http://www.dadamo.com/

These things combined with fervent prayer, fasting, Preisthood blessings and striving to live the Word of Wisdom have really helped.

I don't claim to know everything, and I certianly do not fully understand your condition nor what you are going through. I don't know if either of the books (above) that helped us will help what you've got, but I thought it was worth a try. I hope something I've shared may be helpful.

We're with you all the way. Let me know of any way I can be of service to you.

Dearest Brandon, Katie and Family,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you begin this journey back to health. We've been speaking with Nana Ev and Uncle John daily; they've been giving us updates and information regardinrg your treatment plan. May the love of your family and your many, many friends give you the strength to fight this disease. We’re holding you in our hearts.

When your spirits waiver, remember this:

What Cancer Cannot Do

It cannot cripple love
It cannot shatter hope
It cannot corrode faith
It cannot destroy peace
It cannot kill friendship
It cannot suppress memories
It cannot silence courage
It cannot invade the soul
It cannot steal eternal life
It cannot conquer the spirit.

Quinlan and Gaia send their love, as do Uncle Curt and I.

Warm hugs,

Aunt Julie

Brandon and Katie, What incredible spirits you two are to be given such a challenge. And it is just that, you will get through this with all the help and support you need from so many who love you and are praying and fasting for you. When I had my stroke I was asked alot about how I was feeling and I would think about all the prayers, being on the temple rolls all over the country, those that were serveing my family and my own personel revelations and my answer was how could I not recover with all that love and support. I know the same will be true for you. You are soo loved, Listen to those quiet prompting that tell you to let you heal, you are on the road to recovery and we are all there with you,
much love,
